Chapter Spotlight: Tennessee

We are so excited for the Alpha Zeta chapter at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville! As a fairly young chapter, having been chartered in January 2011, the girls have already had a significant impact on their campus and have experienced tremendous growth. They started the year with 25 actives and initiated 45 new members this fall.

The chapter was founded by a group of women who wholeheartedly desired encouragement and fellowship in a Christian environment.  Their current President, Kristin Ballenger says, “The [charter members] recognized the need for an organization where Christian women could come together and share the love of Christ with one another, as well as with those on the campus.  These women prayed fervently for God to be present on UTK’s campus and present in each of their hearts.”

Ballenger shared that Romans 12:9-21 has been the officer’s guide this semester.  “We seek to embody these characteristics as a chapter and as individual daughters of Christ. We strive to be loving, encouraging, patient, and understanding.”  It is evident that these women are very conscious of how they are growing together as a chapter.  Their unity and love for Christ is making a difference on the UTK campus as they welcome new pledges and serve their community.

Please be praying for the Alpha Zeta chapter as they embark on the adventure that God has for them this spring semester! They have asked that we pray for spring rush, which begins Tuesday, January 21.  (Side note: They have planned the events around the recent movie Frozen. How cute?)  Their heart is that God would bring the girls He has planned for the sisterhood.  Please also pray for continued spiritual growth for these women.  This chapter has a precious heart for the things of the Lord, and they desire to see their hearts be fully transformed by Christ.

The Alumnae Association fully anticipates great things for this chapter throughout the upcoming semester!  Remember to keep them in your prayers, send them some encouragement, and keep up with their happenings here: https://www.facebook.com/PhiLambUTK.
