Chapter Spotlight: Angelo State University

Posted by on

This spring, our sisters at our Angelo State University chapter held a fun event for their alumnae! This year's theme was "Lambies in Jammies" and together actives and alums were able to fellowship, eat a delicious brunch, and dress in their comfiest pajamas. They listened to a special devotional from the current chaplain about sisterhood and how Jesus connects us all and had a blast playing their annual game of Bunco!

However, this year was extra special. The chapter had heard about one of their alums, Shyanne Holik, who had a daughter who was born with a rare type of brain cancer. The chapter decided to use this event to raise funds for Shyanne, her daughter Hadlee, and this sweet family. They also created a Facebook event so those were not able to attend could still join in and be involved. Through the "Hope for Hadlee" t-shirt sales and other donations, they were able to raise funds for Cure ATRT (per the family's request) which will help fund research for this specific type of cancer (Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumor). During the event, members and alumnae split into small groups and spent time in prayer specifically for the Holik family. Later, Shyanne mentioned that she has really started to feel the prayers of all those who have supported them during this difficult journey.

Actives and alums alike were blessed to be able to bond through this event. Not only did alums feel supported by the actives, but with such a large turn out of alums present at the event, the actives felt supported as well! ASU recognized that we are part of a larger connection - not just as sisters in Phi Lamb, but we are bonded because we are sisters in Christ. They demonstrated love in a practical way and we are blessed to have these women part of our Phi Lamb family.
