Waffles for World Vision

Sigma Phi Lambda is extremely proud to partner with World Vision as our national philanthropy. We adopted this organization in 2010 as our philanthropy because we believe in the work that they do to help millions of people worldwide. Some of the things that they do are help refugees, disaster relief,  provide clean water, share opportunities to sponsor children in need and much more.

We are very proud that all of our current chapters have taken on different ways to help support World Vision and the work that they are doing in the name of Jesus for others. In the fall of 2017 Sigma Phi Lambda raised a total of  $31,190 along with an awareness throughout the community of what World Vision does around the world. Many chapters are very creative in their fundraising with events such as 30-hour famine, Waffles for World Vision, walks/runs, or sports tournaments.

Our Mu chapter at the University of Oklahoma hosted a creative, impactful Waffles for World Vision event this September.  This chapter partnered with a local Waffle House, who provided waffles free of charge, and OU’s Gamma Phi Beta chapter, who opened their house for the event.  Over 250 people attended Waffles for World Vision, and highlights included a photobooth, a dance party, and lots and lots of waffles!  The girls were able to raise $3,183 for World Vision through their philanthropy event.  Many members also participated in a 30-hour famine prior to the event.  This chapter shares that they were so thankful to watch the Lord provide, especially in the details, and use this event for His glory!
